She is here...finally!

My beautiful girl is here! After a 36 hour induced labor and a very rough night, my little one decided to make an appearance by c-section after all. I was maxed out on Pitocin for 20 hours and, although my water broke spontaneously last night at 6:00 pm, I was still not dilating beyond 1 cm. Everytime they checked...1 cm dilated. Frustrating! So when I could not take it anymore, I got an epidural at 3:30 am this morning. My daughter didn't like the lower blood pressures from the epidural, so she started having a few late decelerations (her heart rate dropped). My OB came in and said we needed to be done. So into a c-section I went.

My daughter was born at 6:20 am this morning. She weighed in at 4 pounds 3 ounces and was a whopping 18 inches long! Maybe she will be tall like her daddy! She had Apgar scores of 8 and 8, but they still passed her straight through to the NICU. I didn't even get a chance to see her. (Not that I would have been able to really see her anyway, what with my foggy head and me puking on the OR table...thanks so much to magnesium). Trav went to see her shortly after she was settled into the NICU, but I didn't get a chance to meet my daughter until 4:00 this afternoon. She is doing very well. She had a magnesium level of 6.3 (thanks again to my mag drip) so she was a little bit lethargic and is on oxygen via nasal cannula. She is also too sleepy to eat, so they are feeding her nutrition through an IV. Other than that, she is doing very well. Of course, I am biased, because she is my child, but I think she is beautiful! She still doesn't have a name yet...we are working on that.Me (looking oh so cute, again, thanks to magnesium) with my little peanutWelcome to the world, little one!
