9 months...really??

I am amazed...my little Anna is 9 months old today! I don't have any "official stats" yet, but on my scale she weighs in at 17 pounds! She is long and skinny, just like her daddy. She is looking more and more like him everyday. Those eyes are all Travis. Unlike her father, though, Anna SMILES for the camera!
I don't know how it is possible, but Anna is getting more and more fun each day! She is starting to pick up on things very quickly. She loves the sound of her own voice, and thus babbles constantly. Her favorite word is mama, which she says all the time. She will say baba (for bottle) occasionally. She still hasn't learned how to say dada...we are working on that one. She is getting more mobile, rolling all over, scooting around the floor and ALMOST crawling this week. She constantly is grabbing my hands to pull her up to a standing position, but her torso is still very wobbly when she stands, so I think it will be quite a while before she walks. (I'm really okay with that!) The big accomplishment this week is that she finally figured out how to bring herself to a sitting position from laying down. Before she would be caught in an eternal abdominal crunch until someone grabbed her hands and pulled her up. She is thrilled with this new skill! My daughter has an fetish for fringe. She loves aunt Laci's scarf, the fringe on a blanket, my hoodie strings, shoelaces, and anything else similar to fringe. Maybe I should dress her as a flapper girl for Halloween...
Anna still LOVES her swing. She naps really well in it, as long as she has her binky and her favorite soft blankie nuzzled around her face. Trust me, if I don't wrap it around her face like this, she will do it herself! (And yes, my swing is currently in the middle of my kitchen...Trav decided to tear apart the front room last weekend, so we have furniture scattered everywhere. I swear that man cannot live without a project.)
Anna loves to watch herself in the mirror. She is constantly making faces at her cute new "friend". And this week she seems to have brought back the frumpy face. I kind of missed it...so cute!
Anna, for the most part, has been a good eater. She has mastered stage 2 foods and is moving on to stage 3 baby foods. Her favorites are mac and cheese, sweet potatoes with turkey, and chicken and apples (yes, chicken and apples mixed in the same jar...who knew? It's actually pretty good!) She loves to feed herself. I haven't been brave enough to let her go at anything major yet, but she does great with the Gerber puffs, yogurt melts, and cheese puffs (her FAVE!). She gets little tastes here and there of my food also. She loves our Wednesday tradition of going to get Red Mango frozen yogurt...both mine and Anna's new favorite treat!
This picture captures my daughter perfectly. I buy her bright, colorful, and animated toys to play with...yet she is fascinated with her bottle of lotion and the infant gas drops. She also loves the yellow highlighter and my tube of twist top lipstick. All things that are great toys until she learns how to open them...
So one of the things Anna got from me is that she has teensy feet. She is still wearing size 1 shoes! The size 2 shoes that I have for her constantly fall off. Thank goodness for Briana's hand me downs...Maizy had really cute shoes that Anna has been able to wear for a while.
And that is my little peanut...growing so fast! She is so cute and happy. Even cutting her third tooth this week didn't make her grumpy. I couldn't ask for a better baby.

Happy 9 month birthday! Mama and daddy love you!

why do we buy them toys in the first place? they look at them for about five seconds, throw them aside and move onto the purse, or the diaper basket, or the utensil drawer....really, that's where the fun is! cute pix!
