A Pony Party

So sorry! October was busy! This post is more than a month delayed...but not forgotten!

When I asked Anna what kind of birthday party she wanted, she immediately chimed in with "Old Macdonald!" I have to say that I thought about it for a while. After all, it would be easier, since I still have all of the decorations from last year's party. Although the Old Macdonald party was a lot of fun, I really wanted her to choose something different. We started going through the party websites. She ended up choosing to celebrate her 3rd birthday with a "My Little Pony" themed party.

I made the invitations again this year using the Pony Party stamp set from Stampin Up. I have to admit that I fell in love with 2 of the new Stampin' Up colors...Melon Mambo and Lucky Limeade. So cute!
I didn't go quite as "all out" as I did decorating for last year's party. A Happy Birthday sign, balloons, and a bunch of bright pink, purple and turquoise was the extent of my efforts. The tables were decorated with My Little Pony and polka dot balloons as well as some cute MLP books that I found.
Trav's grandma and grandpa sportin' some killer shades ;-)
Anna's big birthday gift from her mommy and daddy this year was a bounce house that I rented for the birthday party. She chose the pink castle bounce house, and it was huge! So much fun for the kids...and the adults!
I think she's a fan...
Playing with Evelynn
See, Mandy? She loves her most days...
Only a few tears were shed...
Anna entertained herself almost all day with the new My Little Pony toys that she got for her birthday.
Trav barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers for our family and friends, then we sang Happy Birthday and dished up cake and ice cream.
As much as I would like to claim that I made this cake, I can't take credit. Thanks, Melissa, for once again making an adorable cake!
3 candles...where has the time gone??
Papa Newman enjoying a beverage.
Lots of balloons...and lots of pink, purple and turquoise!
I have the best friends...thanks for always supporting me! Sorry for the few I didn't get a photo of. Love you girls!
My parents were the only ones from my family that were able to make the drive down. JJ had to work, and Cody, Laci, Brandon, and Maday are in different states. We missed you!

We all needed an ice cold beverage....the weather was GORGEOUS! 85 degrees and sunny!
See? Even grandmas can't help but smile after a romp in the bounce house!
Enjoying a birthday cupcake
After cake and ice cream, we tried to get Anna to open her presents. She was still a little distracted and wanted to play with the first few gifts, getting upset when we wouldn't open the box. I had to do more of the opening this year. The gift highlights: a large play horse from aunt Tracie and Kelly, a super soft horse pillow pet and blankie from Cody and Laci, a makeup and hair set from Mandy, and the cutest Dorothy dress ever...hand sewn by my mom for Anna's Halloween costume.

The kids there ranged in age from 3 to 8, so rather than organize a game that would entertain them all, I ordered a My Little Pony pinata. As a pediatric nurse, I am not quite ready for toddlers to whack a random object with a bat (my brain screams Trauma 1!), so I opted for the pull string pinata. In order to be fair and make sure everyone had a turn, we had them all grab a string and pull on the count of 3. The first time, they yanked the pinata right out of the apple tree. Trav resecured the pinata, and the second time was a charm.
Pandemonium struck as the pinata (with Briana's help) released all of the candy.
All of the kids got to take home a goody bag full of My Little Pony surprises as well as their pinata candy.
Anna is rarely in the mood for pictures, but when the occasion arises, and I ask her to smile, this is what I get. Ah, the joy of capturing photos of a 3 year old.
A final birthday kiss from Miss Evelynn
Ummm...I think she scored! She looks pretty pleased with all of her new stuff.
After everyone headed home, Trav and I put off cleaning for a while and jumped in the bounce house with Anna. What a fun and perfect day! A huge thank you to all of our awesome friends and family, for the love and support you always give to us. We love you! Thanks for helping Anna to have a great birthday celebration!
