Anna and I went outside to enjoy today to enjoy one of the last beautiful fall days. Oh, how I love the fall - the crisp cool air, crunchy leaves on the ground, and the heat of summer a distant memory. I'm so glad that I live in a place that has 4 seasons...I love the change!
We really hadn't played in the backyard for a while, so I had to do some "toddler proofing" before I could let Anna play. Things like dog poop and moldy apples probably aren't the greatest baby toys (or snacks, for that matter, as everything Anna picks up still goes right to her mouth). While I was Anna-proofing the yard, my child had to entertain herself in the playpen. Here is what she thought of that plan...

Seriously...I hope none of the neighbors called Child Protective Services...that girl has
attitude lately!!
When I finally got her out and let her roam around, she was a new child. She had a grand old time all afternoon! Playing with her puppies...

Smelling the "flowers" (she loved the alyssum)...

throwing the leaves and then squinting her eyes and laughing when they landed on her...

and watching her dogs chase each other through the leaves provided an afternoon of entertainment! Lily and Daisy even posed for the camera (with some edible bribery!).

We had a few pretty good piles of leaves. This one was her favorite...it was the tallest.

She found the perfect Anna-sized chair - the retaining bricks!

Every once in a while my dogs will get really playful and chase each other through the yard. Today they were really going wild through the piles of leaves. I just wish Anna would have had a microphone on. She giggled every time they would tear through the leaves.
