Back to reality

I have been back to work for a few weeks now. My maternity leave and the holidays were wonderful, but I guess I had to go back to reality sometime. It really hasn't been too bad. My shifts have been very nice for the most part. Nice patients, good families, not too busy. Leaving Anna was the hardest part for me at first, mostly because I had no idea how Trav would do with her. Plus...who wants to leave this sweet face and head to work??For those of you who do not know my husband, he had never held or been around babies until Anna. He never even changed a diaper until my first night back at work - he flat out refused. I have to give him credit, though. He has really surprised me, with very few snags along the way. (The best "snag" was when he called me and asked "How the hell do I bundle her?" despite the fact that I had tried and tried to teach him the concept. He then proceeded to tell me he was going to duct tape the blanket around her. He didn't, but I wouldn't have been surprised!) Now they have a routine down and he just calls me when he gets her to bed. She doesn't sleep quite as well for him, but she still does okay, only waking up once at about 4:00 to eat and then going back to sleep. I think it has provided a great opportunity for daddy/daughter time. She adores him! Isn't that lovely...I go through hell to get her here, I take care of her every need for the first three months, and she still likes her daddy better? Go figure...
A few people have asked me if she is still cranky. Well, I made a command decision last week and took her off of her preemie formula that was making her so gassy. She is now on regular Enfamil. At about 11 pounds now, she is growing fine, so I hope my pediatrician doesn't mind...I guess we will find out at her 4 month appointment in a few weeks. For now, a combination of the formula change and her developmental status improving has made for a much happpier baby. She only gets cranky now when she needs something, and she is much more consolable. Yea!!

What a cutie. If Jeff doesn't like your command mommy decision, oh well!!! I am glad she is not as fussy. I am excited to see her at the meet next Friday. Hugs and kisses!

Kate is a daddys girl too. Infact I was hugging Eric today and Kate ran over and pulled on Erics leg to pick her up. I thought she just wanted to join in the hug...but she proceeded to push me away and gave her daddy a hug. haha. oh the injustice of it all. I love the picture of you and Anna on your profile. Where did you get them done?? You look absolutely beautiful!
