Not my best mommy moment...

When asked how old she is, Anna has been saying that she is "maybe 3" for months now, even though she will not officially be three until the end of this month. Well, most parents say that 3 year olds are worse than 2 year olds when it comes to attitude, whining and sass.
I don't know if I am ready for more sass...

The other night, I didn't have a babysitter after a night shift, so I had been awake for about 36 hours. Anna was testing my patience by her lack of listening and obedience skills on that particular day. I was about done with Anna's whining and the "I don't want to" attitude. After a particularly sassy outburst from her, I looked at her and said
"You are being a little shit!"
She looked right at me with her great big eyes and asked in a very serious voice,
"And you're being a big shit?"

I have to admit that I burst out laughing. Her sweet, innocent little voice putting me in my place. It was just too funny. She's way too smart sometimes. Can you imagine hearing that from this sweet little face?

In all honesty, though, it was a great parenting check for me. I really was being a "big shit". Yes, I was exhausted, but that was no excuse. I'm sure she sensed my exhaustion and frustration, which was making her more difficult and whiny. I could have handled the situation better.

Be patient with me, Anna.
Your mommy is still learning.

That is the funniest things I've ever read! I think that is going to be a new saying for all of us, along with "I have to go potty, I guess" and "No panties for me!" She is such a cute, smart, adorable, fun little girl! And you are the the best mom ever! You are my idol! I still say you are superwoman! Lova ya!

I love this story! I am definitely a 'big shit' sometimes. Especially after a night shift! Keep up the good work mommy Jami. It only gets easier from here, right? RIGHT?!
