A day to remember

What an amazing day! Anna's official birthday celebration will be on Sunday, but today we had so much fun. Anna woke up as happy as I have ever seen her in the morning. Usually she wakes up crying until I come in to get her. We played for a while and then I made her favorite breakfast...blueberry pancakes and a banana. I had to do the birthday candle thing, but Anna was incredibly fascinated by the flame. I may have a pyromaniac on my hands.
I got her dressed for the day, and then we waited for Trav to wake up. He has been working night shift, so he slept in. Of course there's always a little mischief when Anna is involved...
I put these adorable little shoes on Anna, but she kept looking down at them like she was wondering what the hell was on her feet. I think the ribbon was throwing her off...fashion over function, right?Around noon, Anna walked (well, kind of stumbled) over to me and handed me her blanket. She snuggled for a minute, and then fell right to sleep. She slept...and slept...and slept. She took a 3 1/2 hour nap! I had to check on her a few times and make sure she was still breathing. She never usually sleeps longer than 1 1/2 hours. Wow! When she got up from her nap, Trav was finally awake. A big smile lit up her face and a cute little giggle escaped when she saw her daddy. She played with him for a while, or rather, climbed all over him for a while. Anna's favorite lunch was next...Ramen noodles, of course! She also decided to pull out one of her bows from her hair and chew on that. Ramen soaked bows are just not fit for a birthday girl, so I had to find her a few new white bows to wear. Even shopping all afternoon (and into the evening!) didn't dampen Anna's spirit. She was playful, waving and blowing kisses to everyone at the grocery store. She had many people laughing. As happy as she was at the store, she was more than ready to get down and play with her puppies when we got home.
Dinner? Chicken nuggets, fruit snacks, and a granola bar. Interesting combination. At least she liked it.
I did let her open one present. She adores Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, so I gave her one of those incredibly annoying books that makes noise. She loves it, of course.
Rediscovering old toys...and looking a little on the dazed side.
Getting ready for bed. She knows the drill...lotion, diaper, PJ's, and a book of her choice. Even when she was getting really tired she was making me laugh. She says "night night" and blows kisses when she gets her PJ's on. Cute! She loves the new toothbrush I bought her tonight. Lights flash on the toothbrush for a minute (to signal when brushing is through). Fascinating stuff to a one year old.
The ONLY tantrum she had today is when I tried to take the toothbrush away. Tragedy.
10:00 pm. My little angel asleep, with all 3 of her blankies in tow. What a great birthday for her.
Can I hope for a repeat of this happy-go-lucky Anna on Sunday for the birthday party? Or will the drama queen resurface? We shall see...
