Any fans of the TV show "So You Think You Can Dance" out there? Similar to "American Idol" but with dancers. As a dancer most of my life, I am a huge fan of the show - I have never missed a single episode in 4 seasons. Tonight I had my first doubts about the show as they announced the top 20.
Seriously??? How can they possibly cut Kelli Baker??? I adore her! Not because she is from Salt Lake City, and not because her mom happens to be my favorite choreographer Bonnie Story, either. I honestly couldn't breathe after I watched her audition! (I wouldn't let my husband delete it from the DVR!) She is a phenomenal dancer. And then the judges turn around and keep the girl who is a 24 year old high school teacher (she looks more like a stripper to me...sorry, but she does) who is not nearly as strong a dancer as Kelli. UGH! I want to scream.
The judges said Kelli was a beautiful dancer but lacked personality when she wasn't dancing. Umm...isn't this a dance competition? Who cares what she is doing when she is not dancing? Why don't they judge on raw talent and then let America decide?
Seriously.
Maybe one of these days I will get to see Kelli dance for Odyssey Dance Theatre, my fave company here in Utah. Two of the male dancers (Matt Dorame, Thayne Jasperson) from Odyssey made it into the top 20 tonight. Maybe that will restore my faith in the show.
Sorry...had to vent.

Couldn't agree with you more!! I love the show but was somewhat disappointed in a couple of their choices.
