Did "she" grow an appendage??

I had my big ultrasound yesterday, the one where they look at all of the structures of the baby. Trav couldn't get out of work, so I took my mom with me. Being a pediatric nurse who takes care of multiple babies with various defects of the spine, heart, brain, abdomen, etc., needless to say I was a little nervous. Your mind goes crazy when you work in the NICU and the PICU at Primary's thinking that there are no babies that are born completely healthy and without birth defects...

After the ultrasound tech gelled up my belly (it was warm...they have a gel warmer...how cool is that?) she placed the wand on me and one of the first images I saw was a lovely little four-chambered heart! There was also an intact spine, an intact abdomen, and an intact brain. Everything looks good. The only thing the baby wouldn't do? Spread the legs for a good look. The tech kept saying "I think it is a girl" but she couldn't get a good view. Mind you, this is the only time I will tell my child to show the goods, but I really wanted to make sure!

The doctor then came in and took a few more looks at the heart and the spine just to make sure everything was okay, which it was. At the very end of the ultrasound he was finally able to get a view between the babies legs, and there was no appendage. She had girl parts! So I guess it is official...I can shop for girl clothes!! Not that I haven't bought a few things already...
