Cruise Highlights

Well, we arrived home safely from our cruise. I had the weekend to unpack and get my house in some sort of order, but, sadly, it is Monday and I have to go back to work tonight. Why is it that I always feel like I need a vacation to recover from the vacation?

We had a fantastic time on the cruise! The weather, for the most part, was nice. About 60 degrees and sunny, except for Wednesday on Catalina Island. Raining, windy, and cold. Needless to say we didn't spend a whole lot of time on Catalina Island. Plus, the ship started rocking back and forth with that storm and didn't stop the rest of the trip. Now I am on solid ground and still feel like I am swaying. Gotta love when your equilibrium is off. At least I didn't puke!

Here are some highlights of our trip:

Tuesday was a beautiful day in San Diego, and we chose to go to Sea World. There were no crowds at all, which meant my dad was a happy tourist. We saw the dolphin show,
the sea lion show, the sharks,
and, of course, Shamu. We also saw a fairly new exhibit they have called Wild Arctic with polar bears, walruses, and these really cool white whales - I forget their actual name. Then we headed over to the Anheiser-Busch place to see the clydesdales (and for free beer samples!! I highly recommend Winter's bourbon cask ale, if you can find it...they don't sell it in Utah...go figure...). When we got back to the ship we got all dressed up for the "formal" night on the cruise. We got a very nice family picture - my husband even looks fairly pleasant!Wednesday we tried to rent golf carts on Catalina Island, but the weather was freezing...the golf carts only lasted about an hour, and then we got back on the ship. We got a great pic of the ship from the island, though.Thursday we docked in Ensenada Mexico. We initially were going to rent 4-wheelers and take them through wine country, but we decided instead to head out to La Bufadora, the largest rock formation "blow hole" in the world. After being nearly mauled to death in the Mexican market you have to pass through to get to La Bufadora (you want buy? I be your free Mexican boyfriend...and so forth) we were able to see the beautiful rock formation. Water sprays up every 20 seconds. Very cool! After enjoying some street tacos and the best churros I have ever tasted, we headed back to the ship. All in all, the cruise was awesome. Our dinners were fantastic on the ship, and we watched enough karaoke (some really good, some REALLY bad!) to last us a while. Thanks, Mom and Dad, for a great time with the fam!!

P.S. Have a very happy birthday, Mandy!!
