Life after "B"

She did it! It has been a whole week without the binky. The first night, we cut the tips off of 2 binkies, declared them "broken", and threw them in the garbage. She didn't even cry! She went to bed really easy that night, and I thought we were golden. This was easy!

The next morning, however, I discovered that my sneaky little daughter had another binky hidden in the crib. She was happily sucking away on said pacifier when I came to get her out of her crib.

She would have thrown a huge fit this time around if we tried to cut the last binky, because now she knew what happened to "broken" binkies. So I took it when she wasn't looking and hid it. I'm a mean mom, aren't I? That night, when I put her to bed, she fumbled around in her bed for a moment, looked up at me with great big tears in her eyes, and said "Where binky go?" I told her it was lost. She said "Mommy find it?" I looked around for a minute,, but of course didn't find her precious binky. I handed her the corner of her blanket. She quickly grabbed it and snuggled in for the night. I didn't hear another word about the "B".

Now that the binky is gone, the only downfall is that she is a little harder to get down for an afternoon nap. Sometimes she does nap, but sometimes she just plays in her crib for a while. Hard to know if that is due to the binky loss or just her growing out of needing a nap during the day.

Regardless, it wasn't nearly as painful as I thought it would be to get rid of the binky. Great job, Anna! I'm proud of you!
