The Mermaid Storyteller

I have no excuse as to why I haven't blogged for so long. It is not for lack of things to say or post about...rather, there are too many! There doesn't seem to be enough time in the day. There are so many things that I want to find time for in my life (scrapbooking, blogging, sewing, cooking, deep cleaning, etc.), but as a mother this is a great challenge. Most of my time right now is consumed with this adorable little one, and who can complain about that??

Anna is mastering her letter sounds and is starting to read some short words with help. We have been reading a lot of books together, and because of that, Anna is always wanting to "read" me a story, which usually just involves her imagining a storyline utilizing her toys or a book. I love to hear what her little creative mind will come up with!
Last night at the dinner table, Anna started telling me a story about her Barbie Mermaid doll. She told me all about how she went fishing and then found this mermaid. They were so surprised to see each other, but then they became best friends. The original story was so creative and she told the story very well, so I grabbed my phone and tried to get her to tell it again. She HATES the camera with a passion, so I didn't think it would work, but she actually talked for quite a while. Oh, how I love the imagination of this little 4 year old!
