A Week of Birthday Fun

Anna's birthday fun started with a trip to the zoo with Grandma Joyce and Papa Charlie. American Express (Joyce's place of employment) had a great zoo night for their employees complete with a barbecue. The weather was glorious! Crisp, clear air and around 70 degrees. My favorite season is here!
These were her polar bear friends. The actual polar bear was sound asleep so these had to do.
Anna loved the statues as much as the actual animals.
American Express had free face painting there for the kids. Anna chose a butterfly.
 First view!
 She loved it!
The zoo wore her right out. She fell asleep with "Fluffy", her new stuffed leopard, on the floor as soon as we got home.
Anna's actual birthday began with the requested purple pancakes. The butterfly face stayed on so well overnight, but sadly we had to wash it off for preschool. "Temporary tattoos" aren't allowed. :-(
The treats we make for Anna's preschool class. We sort of stole the idea from Mandy (and from pinterest!). Fun treats are hard these days since everything has to be store-bought. No homemade goodness anymore...sad.
In preschool, Anna got a birthday crown and got to be the leader for the day, leading the kids in the pledge of allegiance. Trav and I got to go for the first 20 minutes of preschool as they did a spotlight on Anna. We made a poster about the things she loves. The teachers and kids sang Happy Birthday and then asked her a few questions. My favorite was when Miss Jan asked Anna what her favorite thing is to do with her Daddy. Anna answered "Hug him!"
Later that night we joined Grandma Joyce and Papa Charlie at Planet Play for pizza and fun.
We played glow-in-the-dark mini golf, but Anna loved mini bowling the best.
Still Anna's very favorite is the miniature carousel.
The birthday fun was over for a few days...but then it was time for Anna's actual birthday party.
More picture overload coming!! Stay tuned...
