Anna at 19 months

A few of my friends on the oncology floor at work have taken their kids to get pictures done with Miles of Memories photography. She only works as a natural light photographer, and I loved her pictures of my friends' kids. She is still really cheap (I'm sure that won't last forever!) so I decided to have her take some shots of Anna at 19 months. She did a great job with a not so compliant toddler!

Anna continues to amaze me at almost 20 months. Physically, she's still little at just barely 22 pounds. I just pulled out her summer wardrobe from last year and almost everything still fits...even the 6-9 month stuff. The capris and shorts are just a little shorter. Now that her incisor teeth are coming in, she has all of her teeth but the molars. She loves to run and climb and has just learned how to successfully get her feet off of the ground when jumping. She loves the stroller and our outings to the zoo, the aquarium, or the park.

Anna is a fairly smart little thing. She can count to four (when I start with one) and she knows most of the basic colors (anything purple being her favorite). She is talking up a storm. This week she loves to say "Uh, oh...what happened?" Most of the things she says are very clear, but every once in a while she makes up a word for one that she has a hard time saying. For example, she calls my brother's dog Vega "Soggy" and we can't figure out why. She can say doggie just fine, so that's not it. Who knows? Anna loves the school bus and big trucks and will point them out to you with gusto when driving in the car, but the garbage truck still scares the daylights out of her. My child still loves her "pretties" (necklaces, bracelets, watches, etc.). She has a drawer of them that she is allowed to play with and will spend hours organizing them into different plastic cups. She loves to give kisses now and will do it gladly when asked, but a shyness has also developed in her. When we are around strangers (especially male strangers that try to say hello to her) she lowers her head and buries her head in my shoulder.

My child has become obsessed with the movie Annie. You know...the old one with the redhead orphan and Carol Burnett as Miss Hannigan? Oh, yes. The first thing I hear in the morning when she is ready to get out of her crib is "Annie...again...pease?" She will get so excited while watching the show. She knows all of the characters and points most of them out by name...saying "kids" and "Ham" (which is what she calls Miss Hannigan) and "daddy bucks" (Daddy Warbucks). If Anna had her way, she would have it on repeat and watch it all day long while she played. I have had to limit her to watching it once or twice a day. I guess since she really doesn't watch anything else on TV that is okay...right?
