Talk about putting me in the Christmas mood...this week has been great! Over the weekend, I went shopping for all of the deals with my friends Mandy and Donna (yes, I got my rear end out of bed at 2:45 A.M.!!) I set up my Christmas tree on Sunday, as well as getting my husband to finally put some sort of lights/decor on the outside of the house.
On Tuesday, I awoke from a night shift to find the most beautiful coat of white snow on my lawn. Tuesday night, my cute mom came down from Logan with her friend Lee, who had gotten us tickets to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert. We went to PF Chang's (which is, essentially, heaven on earth) for dinner and then walked over to the concert. The orchestra played for 3 solid hours, some Christmas music and some other fun favorite classical tunes, such as Flight of the Bumble Bee and Beethoven's 5th symphony (revolutionized by the rock band sound of TSO). Absolutely amazing to hear the band...disappointing to know that it would have been better had it not been in the Energy Solutions Arena with horrible acoustics. Oh well...we still had a great time! (and it was snowing again when we came out of the concert!)
On Wednesday, my mom, Lee and I awoke early and went down to the Festival of the Trees. Over 700 decorated and lighted trees, as well as wreaths, mini trees, gingerbread houses, and homemade sweets filled the expo center. Many of the trees had a story attached, honoring the memory of a person who has suffered or died from an accident or illness. Most of the trees are donated by generous individuals and companies who want to help someone out this holiday season. All the proceeds go to the hospital I work for to help with medical expenses. It really reminds you of what Christmas is really all about, and I thoroughly enjoy attending the festival each year.
Now I am frantically working on my Christmas cards, trying to finish them so that I can get them out soon.
Like I said, Christmas spirit all around this week!! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and is looking forward to Christmas!
(I would post craft-related objects, but the things I am working on now are gifts...and the only people who read this blog may be on the receiving end...)
