Cachet Ballet Reunion

When I finished high school, I knew that I was not ready to give up dancing. It was all I have known, all I had loved for so many years. But where would I continue to dance? I couldn't go back to Tueller's...they were not thrilled with me when I left to dance with the drill team. Then I came across a fairly new company...the Cachet Ballet Company. My life was forever changed! Miss JoAnn was a great influence in my life, not only teaching me ballet technique, but also lessons in self worth, dedication, selflessness, and compassion. I was by no means a fantastic dancer (nor was I blessed with the perfect dance body!), but Miss JoAnn made me feel like I could accomplish anything. I was quickly welcomed into the Cachet family. That's what it was, too...a family. So much more than just a group of dancers. We did our fair share of laughing, crying, playing, and of course dancing together.

A few pics from back in the day...For the next 5 years, I performed in a number of Cachet productions, including a western ballet (think saloon), a ballet set to Gershwin music, a Celtic ballet (sort of like a ballet version of Riverdance), and the annual production at Christmas time of The Little Match Girl. When I moved to Provo to work as a nurse, I continued to drive to Logan to rehearse and perform in a few productions. I tried dancing at a few studios in Provo, but it just wasn't the same.

For personal reasons, Miss JoAnn had to close the doors to Cachet almost 9 years ago. I still miss it terribly. Over the years, I eventually lost contact with JoAnn and a lot of the other dancers. Recently that all changed...thanks to facebook! JoAnn joined and found me, and then we found a few more dancers, and then it snowballed into a whole fabulous group of former dancers. We shared pictures and memories on facebook. We decided that we had to plan a reunion.

Last week, that wonderful reunion happened. We met at JoAnn's home, and had a lovely dinner thanks to JoAnn's friend Jeff and her 3 beautiful daughters Helena, Alexandra, and Isabella. We reminisced, laughed, cried, and got to know each other again. I loved hearing what each dancer was doing now...some were off traveling the world, some were experiencing motherhood, a few were still dancing. Everyone of us has gone on to lead a full and successful life. I found it very difficult to leave that night, and ended up staying until almost midnight. I had forgotten how much fun I had with JoAnn and the rest of the girls.
Catherine continued to grow...she is so tall (and gorgeous) now!
The "oldies" of the group...me, Wendy, Keturah, and Vivian. A few of the younger ones...Chelsey, me, Becca, and Chelsea
Keturah, Sarah, Chelsea, Heather, Hannah, and Stephanie.
The entire group at the reunion, including JoAnn's delightful daughters. We missed those who could not make it...but we knew that your heart was with us. Thank you, JoAnn, for bringing us all back together. I wish I could put into words what it meant to me to see you and my Cachet family again.
